Tory Lanez’s debut mixtape titled T.L 2 T.O. came in 2009. He started getting traction for his music videos, and the rapper Sean Kingston also took an interest in his videos. He met Kingston in 2010 and performed live for Kingston.

He then released Just Landed in 2010, and he followed up this with releasing One Verse One Hearse, Playing for Keeps, and Mr. 1 Verse Killah. The star released Mr. Peterson, Chixtape, and Swavey after signing a record deal with Sean Kingston.

Controversies, Feuds, And Legal Issues

Tory and controversies go way back, just a year after releasing his debut mixtape in 2009, he challenged Drake and announced $10,000 for the challenge. He later challenged Drake again and stated that he would personally give him $10,000.

Later, Drake released Summer Sixteen in which he appears to diss Tory Lanez with the line, “All you boys in the new Toronto want to be me a little.” The feud went back and forth as they dissed each other in their songs.

In addition to his much-publicized feud with Drake, he has also feuded with the likes of Jacquees, Joyner Lucas, and Don Q.

He started his feud with Jacquees after commenting on his Tweet in which he said that there was no competition for him in R&B except Chris Brown, who he claimed was his idol. Lanez seemed to reconcile with Jacquees as they announced a tour together.

He once caused a riot at a concert, tensions were already high when the audience and security personnel were already fighting, but things escalated into a riot when the rapper shouted: “f*** s*it up,”.

Tory Lanez was born Daystar Peterson on July 27, 1992, in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, to Sonstar Peterson and Luella Peterson. He had to move around a lot in his childhood as he was a troubled child and had to constantly find new places to stay.

He was on his own since the age of 15 when his grandmother refused to take care of him. He described having to fight everyone he knew from when he was 15 till the age of 18.

In February 2020, the star was reportedly dating Mya. Before this, he has been in relationships with Joseline Hernandez, Kash Doll, etc. Some of his other high-profile girlfriends include Trina and  Nakita Johnson.
