Tony Danza was born Antonio Salvatore Iadanza on April 21, 1951, in Brooklyn, New York City. His father, Matty Anthony Iadanza, was a waste collector and was from Italian descent, and his mother, Anne Cammisa, an immigrant from the town of Campobello di Mazara, Trapani, was a bookkeeper. He is of American nationality while his ethnicity is mixed.
He grew up along with his brother Matty Jr. ( born in 1954), who is the owner of Los Angeles restaurant. They spent their childhood days in East New York, Brooklyn, and later on, while he was 14 years old, he moved to Malverne, New York, on Long Island along with his family.
Regarding education, he completed his high school from Malverne Senior High School in 1968. Later on, he joined the University of Dubuque and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history in 1972 on a wrestling scholarship.
