The “Russo Brothers” is the name given to the duo of filmmaker brothers, Anthony Russo and Joseph “Joe” Russo.
Anthony J. Russo (born on February 3, 1970), and Joseph Vincent Russo (born on July 8, 1971) were born to Basil Russo and Patricia Gallupoli.
Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, the brothers attended Benedictine High School. But while Joe majored in English and writing from the University of Iowa, Anthony pursued a business degree from the University of Pennsylvania before switching majors to English.
They started making films together when they were both graduate students at Case Western Reserve University. They personally financed their first feature film, Pieces. Their work was so well-liked by filmmaker Steven Soderbergh that he offered to produce their next project.
Along with co-producer George Clooney, the caper comedy, Welcome to Collinwood, was released in 2002 starring Clooney, William H. Macy, and Sam Rockwell, among others. Their career officially took off then.
