Early Life And Childhood
Michelle Williams was born Michelle Ingrid Williams on September 9, 1980. Born to the author, stock and commodity trader, and politician Larry R. Williams, and his wife, Carla, Michelle spent nine years of her life in Kalispell, Montana, with her three paternal half-siblings, and younger sister, Paige.
Her family moved to San Diego, California when she was 9. She was enamored with acting when she saw a local production of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
She studied at Santa Fe Christian Schools while continuing to audition for roles and realizing that she had to give up on or the other, she dropped out of school and was home-schooled. She filed for emancipation from her parents at age 15 so that she could pursue acting more rigorously.
Personal Life, Marriages, And Children
Michelle was in a relationship with the Australian actor Heath Ledger from 2004 to 2007. They met on-set of Brokeback Mountain and subsequently started dating.
They welcomed their first and only child, Matilda Rose Ledger, on October 28, 2005. They separated in 2007, mere months before Heath Ledger would die of an accidental overdose on January 22, 2008.
Heath is most known for his portrayal of the Joker in the 2008 superhero movie, The Dark Knight, which was in the midst of editing when he passed away. His performance would garner him a posthumous win at the Academy Awards, The Golden Globe Awards, and the BAFTA Awards.
