The founder of the Momofuku restaurant group, David Chang, 44, is an American restaurateur, television personality, and author. His restaurant group includes Momofuku Milk Bar, Momofuku Ssam Bar, Momofuku Noodle Bar, Momofuku Seiobo, and Momofuku CCDC.
The American television personality is worth $60 million as of 2020 making him one of the richest chefs in 2020. Besides this, Chang created, starred, and produced in a Netflix original series called Ugly Delicious which also stars Peter Meehan, Aziz Ansari, and David Choe.

David Chang was born on 5th August 1977 in Vienna, Virginia, the United States of America to mother Sherri Chang and Joe Chang. He is American as per his nationality and has Asian ancestry.
Chang went to Georgetown Preparatory School and Trinity College from where he majored in religious studies. As of 2000, David enrolled at the French Culinary Institute which is now known as the International Culinary Center.

While Chang was still training in FCI, he worked as a part-timer at Mercer Kitchen in Manhattan and got a job answering phones at Tom Colicchio’s Craft restaurant.

He worked at the restaurant for about two years and moved back to Japan to work at a small soba shop. He later moved back to the USA and worked at Café Boulud.
In 2004, David opened his first restaurant titled Momofuku Noodle Bar in the East Village. After two years, Chang opened his second restaurant, Momofuku Ssam Bar.
In a similar way, Chang opened a 12-seat restaurant, Momofuku Ko. The restaurant takes reservations ten days in advance online only based on first-come-first-served. Later Momofuku Ssam Bar was expanded into an adjacent space along with his colleague Christina Tosi.
As of October 2009, David and former New York Times food writer Peter Meehan published Momofuku, a highly anticipated cookbook that contains detailed recipes from Chang’s restaurants.
In June 2015, Chang launched a chain of fast-food restaurants called Fuku specializing in fried chicken sandwiches. The following year, Chang launches his first-ever digital-only restaurant which takes orders via an app named Ando and offers a menu only for delivery in Midtown East.
In July 2017, David announced the opening of his first west coast restaurant named Majordomo in Los Angeles which was opened in January 2018.
Apart from his cooking career, Chang released his first issue-themed Ramen of his Lucky Peach food magazine in the summer of 2011. The Issue 2 themed The Sweet Spot reached #3 on the New York Times Bestsellers list.
