David Bromstad moved to Miami Beach to try out for HGTV’s Design Star after a friend persuaded him to try his luck. He won the reality show, which rewarded him with the grand prize of a car and a chance to host his TV show.

David Bromstad was born David Reed Bromstad on August 17, 1973, in Cokato, Minnesota, the USA to parents Diane Marlys Bromstad and Richard Harold. He is the youngest among four children named Dean Richard Bromstad, Dynelle Renee Bromstad, and Dyonne Rachael Bromstad.

He is of mixed ethnicity and has Norwegian, Swedish, and German heritage. The star stands at 6 feet 1 inch (185 cm) tall.  

Bromstad also attended Wayzata High School and later graduated from the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida.  

The interior designer is openly gay and revealed his sexual orientation in an interview. David’s current relationship status as of January 2020 is unknown; however, he once was in a long-term and public relationship with Jeffrey Glasko.       

Their relationship started back in 2004 and lasted till 2015 when it ended with a legal battle. After this, he shared a picture on his Instagram with another man captioned “Best Bf Ever” in 2016; however, there is no information on their relationship after this.
