Charlton Heston is an American actor as well as a political activist who has appeared in more than 100 movies during his more than 6 decades-long careers. Being involved in the Hollywood industry for more than 60 years, he has been able to win several prestigious awards including Academy Award, Screen Actor Guild Life Achievement Award, and many others. He was able to bag a Presidential Medal of Freedom from the president, George W. Bush.
Such a talented person lost his life on April 5, 2008, at the age of 84 after suffering from pneumonia. Prior to this, he was also diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in early 2000.

Charlton Heston was born on October 4, 1923, in Wilmette, Illinois, the U.S as Charlton John Carter. He was born to Russell Whitford Carter, who was a sawmill operator and Lilla Charlton Carter Heston. His partners separated when he was ten years old.
Following the separation, he started living with his mother who remarried another man, Chester Heston from whom, Charlton’s surname was taken.
Regarding his education, he went to New Trier High School where he enrolled in dramatics. In 1941, the actor played in The Amateur Silent in the school drama program. For his higher education, he joined Northwestern University in a drama scholarship.
Health Issues and Death
During the early 90s, he suffered from several health problems. In 1996, he underwent a hip replacement and later on in 1998, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
In 2002, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and following this, he officiated that,
I must reconcile courage and surrender in equal measure.
He lost his life on April 5, 2008, at the age of 84 after suffering from pneumonia at his home in Beverly Hills, California. On April 12, 2008, his funeral was held at the Episcopal Parish of St. Matthew’s Church in Pacific Palisades.

The late actor was married to actress, Lydia Marie Clarke. They shared the wedding vows on March 17, 1994, and the relationship between them lasted till his death.

During his last year as the President of the US National Rifle Association, he sent a support message to forces in the Iraqi war. He also opposed abortion.
