In May 2016, Alanis Morissette sued her former business manager Jonathan Schwartz for $15 million in damages, including over $5 million stealing from her.  

In early 2017, Schwarz ultimately admitted guilt of stealing $4.8 million from the singer and $2 million from other clients. As a result, the Los Angeles court sentenced him to serve six years in prison.

Morissette has two older brothers Wade Imre Morissette and Chad Morissette. She attended Holy Family Catholic School. She later went on to study at Immaculata High School for Grades 7 and 8. Alanis finally graduated from Glebe Collegiate Institute.

Alanis Morissette tied the knot with her husband Souleye on 22nd May 2010.  The couple has three children- two sons Ever Imre Morissette-Treadway (b December 25, 2010) and Winter Mercy Morissette-Treadway (b August 8, 2019) and a daughter Onyx Solace Morissette-Treadway (June 23, 2016).
